Ignatius J. Reilly

Where else can I wear this?

Okay folks, here is my Mardi Gras costume in honor of Ignatius J. Reilly my hero from "The Confederacy of Dunces".  I will not be seeking employment as Ignatius was, but I will be seeking help for my pyloric valve as Mr. Reilly was up and down all the streets of New Orleans. My hunter's cap is forest green same as Ignatius' lid with a few added attractions on the ear flaps.  I sure hope the Chiefs of New Orleans do not scalp me on sight but let me join in all the fun.  I will bathe more than once a year and shave once in a while as well in hopes of finding suitable jewelry.  Wish me well and good fortune on this journey with my lady love. Isn't Value Village the number one best boutique for gentlemen's evening attire.

Winter to Mardi Gras

Here we go again with a journey of great expectations to New Orleans and Mardi Gras this time. Where else can you find such a blend of music, food, and good people, but in the Crescent City during the week of Fat Monday, Fat Tuesday and Ash Wednesday.
We booked this funky expensive hotel between the Garden District and the City Center, The Greenhouse Inn with the tenth most popular pool in New Orleans, costumes and clothing optional.  This winter in the middle of Oregon has been an odd mix of freezing below zero temps, fast heavy very wet snow, and warm torrential rains with flash floods. It has been fun, but this escape is to a wonderland of masks, costumes, voodoo, and dancing parades with non-stop music, bayou trips, paddle wheel dinners and general madness. I can not wait! My costume is assembled and my palate is watered.
