Malawi in the Rain

Sunday evening the flash and thunder show on the water was spectacular. I sat for one hour watching and dreaming before I went to my tent. Shortly after drifting off to sleep the deluge hit, and I had to race closing the two window covers from the outside.





Life continues here in the rain with markets loud and boisterous. Malawi is so crowded and so poor. I wonder at times if Dr. Livingston's presence might have contributed to this. He does have heroic status all across Eastern Africa. There are monuments to war heroes in Malawi, Victoria Falls, and on Zanzibar. However there is not one African name among the hundreds inscribed.
