Fish Farming Cianjur, Java

Near the town of Cianjur in Western Java there is a string of three lakes the fishing families live on and farm several species of food fish.

There is no rent for these farmers, but there is a state and federal tax. I was not quite sure how the family received the rights for their section of the lake.

Dried corn is the common food for the fish. The farmers said that they used no chemicals or antibiotics for their fish. There were large packs of rats in the 100 kilo bags of corn.

See the next blog for how these fisher families live on the lake.
